Suicide is among the direct results of atheism or the absence of the deep faith in hearts, those who prone to suicide are very weak, they always feel that are alone, they are always overwhelmed with depression and sadness, they always try to overcome this state by indulging themselves in drugs to escape facing the problem.

The large number of the persons who commit suicide is always found in the west where atheism and skepticism  rule over people.

Suicide around the world

Statistics of suicide gives fearful data, the reasons of committing suicide are so many yet the basic reason which many analysts around the world give blind eye to is the absence of faith, it has been proved that most of those who are prone to suicide are among those who don't believe in God.

Here is a fearful statistic that shows that the number of those who commit suicide is a phenomenon.

1. · The World Health Organization estimates that in the year 2002 approximately 1.1million people will die from suicide
2. · A global mortality rate of 17 per 100,000
3. · One death every 40 seconds from suicide
4. · In the last 45 years suicide rates have increased by 65% worldwide.
5. · Suicide is now among the three leading causes of death amongst those aged 14-44(both sexes)
6. · Suicide attempts are up to 20 times more frequent than completed suicide
7. · Although suicide rates have traditionally been highest amongst the elderly, rates among young people have been increasing to such a rate that they are now the group at highest risk in a third of all countries
8. · More people die from suicide than homicide in the USA, in 1997 there were 1.5 times as many suicides as homicide
9. · Mental disorders (particularly depression and substance abuse) are associated with more than 90% of all causes of suicide
10. · Males are four times more likely to die from suicide than women are. However , females are more likely to attempt suicide than males
11. · 2 suicides every day by young people in the UK and Republic of Ireland
12. · 80% of suicides by young men
13. · Suicide accounts for a fifth of all deaths of young people
14. · An estimated 24,000 adolescents self-harmed in 1998 – 3 every hour

29.  Statistics about suicide are difficult to collate, and many are inaccurate because of the sensitivity of the issue. According to some research suicide rates are 50%-60% higher than the official rate.

The solution:

Islam, the last religion, gives the solution to this problem, the number of the suicides  in the Islamic world is nil simply because people have strong faith in God and simply the book in which they believe always inspires hope.

The concept of life is different in Islam, life is a gift from God, no one can claim the right to end his life whatever the afflictions he is facing.

There are manifold holy texts in Quran and Sunna that explain to the believer the wisdom behind trial and test and encourage him to stand stable in facing these troubles, moreover there is a verse in the Holy Quran that explains that there will be solution to all the believer's troubles just if he remaines patient.  God says in the Holy Quran what means:

"For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. (5)Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease." (94:6)

Facing trials and tests from is a method by which you prove your entire submission to your Lord.

A Muslim  understands well the fact that this life is the abode of afflictions, it is not an eternal, it is ephemeral life in which man must be faced with trials.

Sa‘d reported that he asked the Prophet (Peace be upon him) who among mankind had the most trials, and he replied,
“The prophets, then those most like them and then those most like them. Man is tested according to the level of his faith. If his faith is firm, his trials increase in severity, and if there is weakness in his faith, he will be tried accordingly.”

To the Muslim, this life is not the real life, the real life is that one which follows, so there is no need to kill yourself in this life to enter the hell instead of the Paradise. You should not bemoan what you lost.

God says in the Holy Quran what means:

And this worldly life is not but diversion and amusement. And indeed, the home of the Hereafter - that is the [eternal] life, if only they knew. (29: 64)

The Muslims knows well that the patients who remain stable in the face of trial showing submission to God will be allowed in the highest ranks in paradise.

Prophet Muhammd says:

"The patients will enter the paradise without reckoning."

Also the prophet says

" If God loves a certain servant, he will afflict him."

Indeed affliction is a remittance of sins.

 The Muslim knows well the  least pain he faces is atoning for his sins.  Suhaib bin Sinan (May Allah be pleased with him) said that prophet Muhammad (Allah's blessing and peace be upon him) said:

« How wonderful! for the action of the believer, cause of that if he gets joy, he thanks Allah, and if he gets sorrow he takes patience, and in both is blessing for him ».

The Muslims knows well that patience is one of the methods that brings him nigh to his Lord.

The Holy Quran tell the Muslim that all the prophets were afflicted with pains and calamities. Prophets are examples to be followed and great persons there is condolence for every believer.

A Muslim accepts all trials happily since these are from God. He knows well that such trials are tests that every human will certainly undergo.

A believer knows well that if he is afflicted with something, there is no way  to go out but to pray to his lord and the reward is answering his prayer.

But what if one insisted on following the devil and killed himself?

What if he insisted on damaging something that he really doesn't own?

What if man insisted on following the devil unmindful of all of these free gifts?

What if man insisted on his infidelity and refused to submit to his lord and killed himself?

A fearful punishment awaits… it is permanent hell..

This is a deterrent  way for everyone who think about killing himself, this is the best way that has made a lot of people think thousand of times before committing that folly, it is not logical to shut the door of life to open the door of hell just only to avert a problem that you will succeed if you tried again to solve. You won't be able to face the life with all its difficulties unless you believe in God and you won't be able to believe in God unless you read Islam--- just read it. 

Allaah has made patience like a horse that never gets tired, an army that can never be defeated and a strong fortress that can never be breached. Patience and victory are twin brothers, for victory comes with patience, relief comes with distress and ease comes with hardship. Patience is of more help to the one who has it than men, as it helps without any need for equipment or numbers and its relationship to victory is like that of the head to the body.
