The Status of Woman in Christianity
Woman in Christianity has always been the culprit that is to blame for the human miseries. She was never treated as a true human being. She was degraded for a crime she never committed. How do the early theologians see women?
The early theologians considered Eve responsible for the crucifixion of Jesus, who (as they think) was sent to the earth to atone for the human sins especially the Original Sin. According to the story of Adam and Eve, Eve convinced or allured Adam into eating from a certain tree that God ordered them not to eat from. When Adam disobeyed God, he was dismised from the heavens. According to this story all the blame is to be put on Eve’s shoulder. To atone for this sin that not only Adam bore but also all his offspring, God had to send His son (Jesus) in order to be crucified to atone for this henious sin. It is noteworthy that the same story is mentioned in the Holy Quran but in Quran not only Eve is resposible but also Adam and Adam is to bear the larger portion. Also in Quran God forgave Adam and Eve the moment they asked God for forgiveness. However all the thologians across the human history consider Eve not only responsible for the Original Sin but also for the human miseries and most importantly the crucifixion of Jesus.
