Angels Descended for his Recitation
Asad ibn Hudayr, one of the righteous companions of the Prophet (saw), used to spend the night reciting the holy Qur'an with ecstatic feelings overwhelming him. He pondered on every word he read, and made it a law that governed his life. It happened that at one night he was reading the Holy Quran letting every word pass over his heart and mind, he was contemplating and pondering on every word and completely filled with ecstasy. His horse which was tied to a tree near him made a sudden noise and movement. He stopped his recitation and the horse stopped its violent movement as a result. To know if there was any relation between his recitation and the reaction of the horse, he stopped the recitation then proceeded to read several times. To his astonishment, the horse reacted only when he recited the holy Qur'an. Fearing that his young child Yahya, who was sitting near the horse, should be harmed, he carried him to another secure place. While he was carrying him, he raised his head to the heavens and, to his amazement, he saw what looked like a cloud filled with luminous lamps. In the morning, he went straight to the Prophet (saw) and told him about all that happened. The Prophet (saw) blamed him saying, "Why didn't you keep reciting? Why didn't you keep reciting? Why didn't you keep reciting?" "I feared that my son would be crushed by the horse, Prophet of Allah," said Asad. "Do you know what you saw?!" Exclaimed the Prophet (saw). "These are the angels that descended when they heard your voice. If you kept reciting they would have kept descending till they walk among people, and they wouldn't veil themselves. " In fact reading the holy Qur'an is not like reading a common book, it brings spiritual happiness, tranquility and peace to the human soul. The more you read it, the more you are tied to it, thus the more wisdom you get, no matter the cultural background you have. God says in the Qur'an:
